SPECTACULAR SANDOVAL LAKE

4Day/3night

After going just a little more than half an hour down the Madre de Dios River from Pro Maldonado and after walking an easy 3 km trail, you will find on of the hidden jewels of the Peruvian Amazon – Sandoval Lake, considered by many ecologist as one of the most beautiful and species rich areas in Peru.

Day 1

We are going to take our motor canoe, sixteen hp in the small river port called “Capitania” down river we can discover the animals near to the bank as Taricaya turtle, beautiful butterflies, white Caymans, and the biggest rodent of the world called Capybara, and spot shore birds.
Once you arrive at the small dock of the checkpoint to National Reserve Tambopata you have to sign in at the check point and can spend some time there for small interpretation walk nearby or just rest a bit because the firth real adventure is waiting for you.
The hike to Sandoval lake , specially the three kilometers are quite tempting since some parts flooded in rainy season , but don’t worry the trail is flat and shady and there is a lot of interesting thing to see.
As soon as you arrive at the lodge, you will get enough time to swimming in the lake without problem. After that will be going in the jungle at night to see nocturnal animals and insect dinner and finish of the activity.

Day 2

An early wakeup call enables us to be on the lake by sunrise, definitely the best time in the Amazon to spot wildlife. You will see many birds in on, over and around the lake Cormorants, anhingas different kinds of herons and egrets , fly catcher , red capped cardinals and certainly the strange –looking hoatzins .
But the main attraction of lake Sandoval is of course the family of Giant otters one of the most rarest and most endangered mammals species on earth.
After returning for a late breakfast, we set off into the cool understory of the tall primary forest near the lake to see some wild Brazilian nut trees. Your guide will show you more plants that are used by locals for constructions, as food or medicine or for other purposes, and step by step you will discover the impressive diversity of the Amazone rainforest with different forms of life everywhere.
After lunch, you can take some time for yourself to relax and later you once again board a boat to explore the eastern part of the lake an area which is particular good to spot different monkeys species like the brown capuchins , the squirrel monkey or the red howler monkey. Eating and resting along the shore.
After sunset get your flash light ready to spot the massive black caiman, crocodile specie up to 5 meters long and highly endangered because of its precious skin but Sandoval lake still has a healthy populations, as you will notice by the dozens of red eyes glaring at you, after dinner you get up early the following morning.

Day 3

If you weren´t lucky to see the giant otter on day 02, you can try again this morning or what about an early walk through the rainforest listening to some of some of over 500 species of birds occurring around lake Sandoval is up to you !
After returning for a late breakfast your guide will take you on some more rainforest trail s, after that, you can take your staff all ready
For way back and to go to the amazing canopy walk way, the three biggest canopies in all Peru, in the river port will be waiting for us our bout driver and get ready go down river for 1 hour, when will arrive is just 25 minutes to the canopy and we coming back will be service your lunch after that, free time and in the afternoon go to city to nice hotel *** stars., At 7:30 we will go to typical restaurant for to eat the jungle food as tacacho (smashed banana with fish or biff) nice fruit juice and more
After that you can rest or go out to disco near to the plaza de armas.

Day 4

Breakfast and to go on time to airport and nice journey. End of the trip
